Summer break will be here before we know it!

Birthdays aren't as special as they use to be so I have to toot my own horn and say it's my birthday today!

Anyhow, I realized last night that my kids only have 5 more weeks of school left until Summer break! Holy sheep! I took this summer off from school so I could be home with the boys, so I am really looking forward to spending time with them and not having anything else to worry about.  No homework, no deadlines, no exams! I can’t wait. One more week of school for me and I am done until August!
Not my photo!
Now my concern is what am I going to do to keep them busy and me sane? I joined a few online groups (Moms Like Me &  Mile High Mama ) geared towards moms and I have my doubts about that. I am not a mom’s group type person. I guess you can say I don’t play well with others. Not t because I don’t like to but I literally have a hard time doing it. I have become anti-social over the years and I get really nervous around people even people I have met a number of times and I am not myself. I hate it. I really do. Just thinking about going to a big mom’s group type thing makes me sick to my stomach, that is why I have my doubts. Those things never work out for me.
So I need other fun, inexpensive ideas on what to do this summer. Today I bought 6 passes to Jungle Quest through an online daily deal site and the kids will love that. The price was %50 off so I can afford that!  We have a membership to the recreation center so I can take the boys swimming. If anyone has ideas or suggestions I would love to hear them.

I've gotten the same way. It was always worse for me because of homeschooling. You kind of have to put yourself out there for your kids' sake to make friends for them. But the last two or three years I just sort of stopped "trying" and let things be. I don't relate to most moms or maybe they don't relate to me. I don't know which. I do know it's hard to meet people I click with or have things progress in any sort of meaningful way and I got tired of expending all that energy and goin through all the anxiety all the time. And oooooh Bren loves Jungle Quest, she misses it so much. Nothing like that here, or in Seattle either.

Mel, my sister is really outgoing. She likes to be the center, has to be on the phone all the time and thinks that I must be unhappy because I don't do the same when in fact I am quite content being this way. I have always had one really good friend, not a bunch I so so like. I don't like drama and I have a hard time finding woman who are like me so I have adjusted to being anti-social. When I have reached out and really made an effort to make friends I got bit in the ass by the experience and hurt so now I avoid that. Thankfully our kids are getting to an age where they are starting to make their own friends and I dont have to rely on "play dates" to meet people.
