School closure!

First thing I did this morning was turn on the local news to see if they had announced school closures. Do you remember doing that when you were a kid and when you heard that your school was closed you thought you would explode from the excitement? That's how my kids were this morning. Jack's preschool will be open all day (why?) but with the local forecast calling for up to 24" in some areas near the foothills. I'd rather keep my kids home safe, sound and warm. My interview is tomorrow and I have a feeling that either they will cancel or I will. If it continues to snow like this I am sure the boys school will close.

SNOW... HEAVY AT TIMES WILL CONTINUE INTO THURSDAY. TOTAL SNOWFALL ACCUMULATIONS OF 10 TO 18 INCHES ARE EXPECTED... WITH UP TO 24 INCHES POSSIBLE NEAR THE FOOTHILLS. NORTH WINDS WILL INCREASE TO 15 TO 30 MPH WILL PRODUCE AREAS OF BLOWING AND DRIFTING SNOW.

A WINTER STORM WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM MIDNIGHT TONIGHT TO 6 PM MDT THURSDAY.

RAIN SHOWERS WILL DEVELOP THIS EVENING AND THEN CHANGE TO SNOW AFTER MIDNIGHT. SNOW WILL CONTINUE ACROSS THE AREA INTO THURSDAY. SNOW MAY BECOME HEAVY AT TIMES FROM LATE TONIGHT THROUGH THURSDAY. SNOWFALL ACCUMULATIONS WILL RANGE FROM 8 TO 14 INCHES WITH HIGHER AMOUNTS POSSIBLE IN SOME AREAS. GUSTY NORTH TO NORTHEAST WINDS WILL PRODUCE AREAS OF BLOWING SNOW AND REDUCED VISIBILITIES FROM WEDNESDAY THROUGH THURSDAY.

We just happen to be at the right elevation to be hit with this storm too. So this morning I headed to Walfart to pick up some Tylenol and Ibuprofen for the kids, just in case and also because Hkid was complaining that the sides of his neck hurt. Not his throat but the sides so I am thinking that maybe his glands are swollen trying fight something off so just to be safe I bought those along with a few things for Halloween. Thankfully we are pretty well stocked with food & 3 gallons of milk so we should be good in case we get snowed in for a few days.

I bought some vampire makeup and black hairspray for O and H. They want to be vampires again so who am I too complain. I have no problem reusing their costumes and with three boys we have got our money's worth and then some! :) J-bear has the option of wearing a chicken suit or a monkey suit so he'll do both. One for his school party and the other for trick-r-treatin. I have all the candy I need and even bought the cupcakes for J-bears class party so I am ready for Halloween.

Thursday is my interview and without realizing what I did until it was too late I set the interview up at the same time the kids need to be dropped off at school so thankfully Jack's preschool has a drop off rate and will take the boys to school for me! Woohoo, that really takes the stress off of me. At first I thought I could ask Jas to go to work later than usual and take the kids to school for me but he left this morning for Texas. He has to give a workshop and won't be home by then. So even though this week seems like it's going to be crazy I think it will work out as long as the snow doesn't close the schools and the preschool, in that case I would hope that Kohl's wouldn't hold interviews that day. But last night I was talking to hubby and if it snows and closes the schools and I can't go to the interview then so be it. My kids come first. Always have and always will.

I have an interview!

I put my application in to Kohl's the other day, hoping to make some money before the holidays for the kiddos and family gifts and hopefully a part time job after to have some of my own money. I miss money. Sounds bad but being a SAHM is the best job in the world but one tiny negative part is I am always broke. So I have an interview on Thursday. It's a group interview though. Not sure what that means or what to expect! But wish me luck. I have been trying to find a job since we moved here in June 08'. Thanks!

Restaurants to avoid in Colorado

Juanita's in Boulder, Colorado! We made plans this past weekend to drive to Rocky Mountain National Park to hopefully see the elk and the changing of the leaves but ended up hitting construction traffic in between Boulder and Lyons so we turned around and headed to the Pearl Street Mall for lunch instead.

After walking the mall and deciding against any of the big corporate eateries I picked Juanita's mexican restaurant. I should have turned and walked out as soon as I walked in when we realized that a) the restaurant had only a few people seated while every other restaurant we looked at was packed! and b) that the restaurant smelled bad, like moldy. But instead we were seated, ordered our drinks and the waiter brought our drinks, (he screwed up my order) chips and salsa. The chips most likely were Tostito's and I've had better jarred salsa than what he brought to us!

When Henry had to go to the bathroom I really should have just got up and left. The bathroom smelled SO bad, the door was propped wide open and guess what was next to the bathroom? You got it , the kitchen. After gagging my way back to the table I started to get pissed off. The waiter looked as if he were avoiding us, we were out of drinks and it was over 40 minutes since we sat down and ordered and still no food so Jas asks the waiter how long it will take because if it goes on much longer we are going to have to cancel our order because our kids are hungry and cranky! The waiter (I hate to even use that title with this guy because it's an insult to anyone in the food industry!) replies "The food will get here when it gets here!".... right then and there I was way beyond PISSED! Don't mess with me and secondly when you have a table full of hungry cranky kids you don't make them wait 40 minutes for a hamburger and quesadilla! I immediately told him to cancel our order and I wanted to see his manager. I was a little surprised at how loudly I said that part after a number of people turned their heads to look at me! So jerkface goes in the back with nothing more to say and a girl who worked there walked by me and I asked to see the manager and she when in the same direction as jerkface and of course no manager came to our table so I see this guy who might be the manager (he was wearing button up shirt) and asked if he was and he said yes so I went on to tell him how rude and unprofessional his staff was and demanded our order be cancelled and we left....

So, 50 minutes later after sitting down to what we had hoped would be some good mexican food we ended up going to a corporate eatery after all and having a nice lunch. After all is said and done I think we might have avoided getting food poisoning or at least the shits! LOL

Trying so hard to stay positive!

I hate the way I am feeling today and while most days are great along comes a day that just brings me down. Last night all I could do was lay in bed and think, think about trying to find a job (yes, the search is still on) any job that will allow me some flexibility and make enough money that I am not wasting my time. Just when I think our lives are getting better hubby comes home and opens a bill and his mood is shit for the rest of the night. That was last night. So of course since I don't work I feel guilty. Guilty for staying home with the kids and putting us in the financial toliet so to speak. I am truly trying to better our situation by going to school. Once I earn my degree I have the ability to make really good money but that degree is a long time away.

As I lay awake last night all I could do was think of ways to make money. I feel like I am already stretched to my limits of what I can add to my plate with three kids, fulltime school and taking care of the house. Studying alone takes up a huge chunk of my time. Where the hell am I going to find the time and energy for a part time job? God I hate feeling this way. Feeling guilty for not being able to contribute and kind of tired with how my hubby reacts. There was a time when I was 100% completely independent and now I totally have to rely on him for everything. "Honey, I need gas." grumble grumble...... "The kids are out of milk and can you pick up some bread?" grumble grumble..... he took away my credit card and gave me a small allowance to use any way I want but still it all goes to food for the kids.

I love my husband more than anything and if it weren't for the stress of money we would have a perfect relationship but I dream of the day that I earn my own money and get my freedom back. *sigh* that's a long way off.

Hump day!

Not alot going on this week. I have been really busy with my studies and quiz after quiz and tons of reading. So nothing much to report. I did start a baby blanket for my sister-in-law. It's very simple but turning out really cute. I'll have to post a photo when it's done. I am still working on the second sock for Jack and I started a cowl for Jason from on online pattern that is just not working out for some reason. I have started and frogged it about five times so I might try one more time before giving up and looking for a new pattern. Any suggestions?

I did workout on Monday and need to get on the Elliptical today but not seeing much in the area of weight loss. I need motivation. Ugh. Well, the boys are taking a bath and I need to get them before they flood the house! Hope all is well with everyone!

Weekend activities

Happy Labor Day to all! For us it meant a day off for hubby and the kids are all home creating noise, chaos and having fun. All in all we had a nice busy weekend. On Firday we celebrated Jason's 39th birthday with cupcakes and dinner. On Saturday we went to the Taste of Colorado in downtown Denver and had a great time. It was a bit of a challenge keeping eyes on all three boys with the huge crowds but it all worked out. Sunday and Monday we had a nice time relaxing and enjoying homemade green chile that Jason made.
