First off I want to say thank you to all my friends who left a comment and those who messaged me regarding Jason. You all have no idea how much your caring words of support mean to us right now. I have a girlfriend who let me know that she put Jason on the prayer list at her church and that everyone is keeping us in their thoughts. It means more to us than you’ll ever know!
Secondly, thanks to all of you who were concerned about me last week. I didn’t post about the “incident” on here because to be honest the allergic reaction I had laid me out for days. It hasn’t been a full week since it happened and while I can see clearly and the fever has stopped I am still dealing with muscle pain and headaches that started when I had the reaction. I am posting a photo so all of you who don’t know what I am talking about can see for yourselves. The photo on the right is a photo that I think looks like me on a normal day so I posted that for comparison. The photo on the left was taken after I left the Urgent Care and had received an Epinephrine shot, Benadryl and my first dose of Prednisone. They monitored my heart and oxygen because of the swelling on my throat and I was starting to have problems breathing.
The quality of the photo is poor since I took it with my cell phone but my face was that red and you can see how swollen I was by how distorted my forehead/nose was. I had such severe edema in my forehead that my skin literally felt like it would rip from being so swollen and it took almost 5 days to see out of my left eye. Okay, I know the question that all of you are thinking at this moment: “What the hell caused that!?” Well to be honest we don’t know. Jason and I went outside with the intention of checking the mail and ended up talking to one of our neighbors for a little over an hour. The wind was blowing like it has been lately and that was it. The next morning I woke up and I couldn’t see out of my left eye and I felt like my skin was on fire.
The swelling continued throughout the day so I called my doctor around 5 pm to see if I could get in the next day but they wanted to see me immediately. I insisted I was fine and could wait until the morning. When I got to the Urgent Care they had a kid with a sprained ankle and another person with a deep cut so I told them I could wait until the morning. The nurse was so funny and told me “NO, you can not wait until morning, seriously you can’t wait!” God love her, nurses like her are the very reason I am going to school to be a nurse myself! So the next step is to see a specialist and be tested. My oldest son has anaphylactic reactions towards animals and has an Epi-pen for that so I know enough to know that once you have a reaction the next one could be twice as bad so I will see the specialist and go from there. It scared me a lot and scares me more to know this could happen again and all of this happened just because I went outside on a windy day. I haven’t even wanted to go out of the house since this happened but today I took Jack on some errands, and I checked out a lot of books at the library and had lunch with Jason so it was a really nice day and seeing all of the blooming trees at the library made me happy knowing that Spring is just around the corner.
I took a few photos of the boys today and have decided to take more photos on a daily basis and post them. I was really inspired by my friend Laura over at http://www.lalagirl.org/ who has been posting photos weekly of her daily life with her kids!
