Who shit in my kids cornflakes this morning?

I hope you all understand the saying that I used for my title, it’s pretty explanatory though. If someone shat in your cornflakes you’d probably have a bad day and that is exactly what is going on with my kids today! Only three more days of Spring break and I am counting down the days until they all go back to school!

The oldest isn’t really the problem. It’s mostly Owen and Jack. Either they are at each others throat or completely acting up in public like they did at the library today. I told them if we had good behavior at the library they could get Dairy Queen as a treat. It’s next to the library and it’s been awhile so I thought it would be nice. Well in the end I only bought for Henry. On one hand I felt horrible because Jack cried the whole way home that he wanted ice cream, but on the other hand I gave O & J more chances than they deserved to earn the treat and I wasn’t about to reward that type of behavior!  Jack told me he wished I wasn’t his Mommy. So, I am the bad guy in this?

Have you ever been out in public and been totally embarrassed by your kids behavior? It sucks. I always try to be relaxed and laid back and let them have fun but even that they can’t do without totally acting up and then I get tense and the enjoyment is gone.  Owen was laying on the floor with his feet above his head as Jack was spanking him. I felt like walking away saying in a loud voice “Where is their mother!?” but since abandonment is illegal I didn’t. I just drowned my failure in an ice cream cone.

{{{Hugs}}} She's mellow in public, and she's an only, so there's no bouncing off siblings, so I have it easy in this respect. But I hate when I get in the position of backing up what I said (like not going for ice cream because they were monsters) and she cries and is sad and says thinks like she hates me. It is what it is, you gotta do it sometimes, but I still hate it :(

It's so hard with three kids. When I just had Devon, I could anticipate his moods and schedule, I could avoid heading out into public (if possible) if he was too tired/cranky, I could easily take him aside and let him have cool down time if he got tantrum-y. But with three? No way. I just don't have that kinda talent. If one is behaving, another is freaking out. If one is freaking out, another is feeling left out and decides to act up, too. Ugh. Time-outs worked well at home, but out and about? Not so much.

For what it's worth - they do grow up! And find new ways to torment and torture each other - and their parents. ;)

Mine are often wankers in public.

I'm one of 4 and my mom used desert as a reward a LOT... mainly because it was almost guaranteed whe'd never be good enough in public to get desert! ha!

Sarah, I am sure I can save money if I offer DQ as a treat for behaving in public, the only one who seems to care if he losses out is Henry (for the most part). Wankers, yup my kids were wankers today for sure! LOL

LOL wankers. I've got one *almost* out of that stage and one... well let's just say we don't get ice cream very often ;)

Well, to bust that "it's the boys" feeling.....my daughter bent over in London Drugs to fart at her friend yesterday. *sigh*

Well, Wendy I guess it's good to know that it's not only boys who do the embarassing things in public! Kids are so bizarre (in a good way at times!)
