A cold snowy Monday. It’s mornings like this that I have the most difficulty dragging my kids out of bed. Hell, I have a hard time dragging myself out of bed! I am keeping my fingers crossed but Owen started out in a bad mood. So I am not holding my breathe that he brings a green home on his behavior chart. It’s almost like I can predict the days outcome by how he wakes up.
I forgot to mention that on Friday morning he told me “Momma, I am going to get a green today!” and I told him that I knew he would do great and believe it or not he came home with a green. I was so proud of him. He even had a substitute! Woohoo. That same substitute is here today so we shall see what happens.
He had a “normal” weekend. His normal, meaning lots of feelings hurt and tears. It breaks my heart to see how easily upset he gets and how many times he cries during a day. It can’t be normal for an almost 6 year old to cry this much. If it upsets me this much I can’t imagine what my poor son is feeling inside. One factor that really plays into Owen’s behavior is Henry, the oldest. He can be mean to Owen. I know this is how siblings are but Owen is the last kid on the face of the earth who needs to be teased about anything. Henry teases him and calls him the Biggest Loser or teases him about what level reading he is in. Owen’s reading at grade level which is Kindergarten and all things considered he is doing awesome.
So anyhow, I am not sure how to handle Henry. I constantly remind him that he had to learn the same things that Owen is learning right now and NO ONE ever was allowed to tease him if he made a mistake. Drives me nuts because Owen looks up to Henry and Henry loves to hurt his feelings…
Well, enough work avoidance time online, I need to work on a math assignment and read more abut Socrates. Is it just me or did Socrates seem like an arrogant know-it-all asshole?
