Lots of soul searching

After much soul searching this weekend I realized that I need to take care of myself. Really take care of myself. Not just talk about it. I have said that I am going to and I am sure anyone who knows me IRL or online has heard me say that and is probably as sick of  hearing about it as I am talking about it. The time for action is now.

Tomorrow is my first class at Jazzercise which I am looking forward to.  I decided that I also need a schedule. My kids are on a pretty structured schedule. They get up at a certain time to get ready for school and have breakfast.  We eat dinner together every night around the same time and they have a set bedtime. I have their lives pretty well maintained but it’s amazing how off balance my own life is.  My life has no schedule whatsoever so today I am going to set one up and really try to live by it.  Hopefully by doing so, it will help with my levels of stress and I can get rid of this guttate psoriasis. I am still not happy about having this but it was a wake up call telling me that I really need to take care of myself and while it may never go away all the studies show that stress can cause a flare up.

I also put my foot down with my husband. He is my greatest supporter in all that I do but he can also be the one behind me cracking the whip when I don’t need him to. He’s been this way with my schooling. Basically he believes I should take so many classes a semester without thinking of how stressful a full school load and being a fulltime mom has been on me. This summer he thinks I should take on a fulltime schedule even though all the kids will be home for the summer. Hmmmmm, so how am I suppose to balance a full time school load and take care of three active boys during the summer and oh yeah, take care of me.

Yesterday I told him that I decided that if I go to school over summer I will only be taking ONE class. If any of you have ever taken a summer course you know how fast paced they are compared to a normal semester. The summer session is shorter and everything you would learn in a normal semester is crammed into half a semester basically. I learned this by taking 2 classes over the summer last year which also happened to be my first semester in college. Talk about stress. I had no idea what I was doing and everything was like bam! bam! bam! then my brother-in-law died and I had all three kids home with me and I decided I would not do that again! Better to delay my graduation by a semester than to kill myself in the process. Right? Off to figure out how to schedule my life now!
